Declan Somers, born in Dublin, Ireland, started his career journey in Japan as a foreign exchange student thirty years ago. He then worked at a Japanese MVNO before running a tour company in Ireland. In recent years, he worked as a volunteer/charity representative in Malawi, which led to the creation of NPO Seibo, a Japanese NGO, dedicated to providing school meals in Malawi. After several years in Poland working remotely, Declan returned to Japan as Mobal CEO.
Cole Garrett / Development and Business Services Manager, Tokyo English Lifeline (TELL)
Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, Cole has been living and working in Japan since 2012. He started out in PR and communications and now is the Development and Business Services Manager at TELL, a Community Mental Health NPO serving the international community. Cole’s interests include Psychological Safety, Mediation and Conflict Management, Workplace Harassment and Bullying, Addiction, LGBTQIA+ issues, Sexual Health, and Suicide Prevention. He lives in Kamakura with his partner and dog. On the weekends, you can find him hiking around the mountains in the Shonan area. But please don’t try to find him, he’s working on boundaries.
